Fishchoice.com will
be a comprehensive online seafood sourcing guide aimed at environmental
organizations, grocery retailers, restaurants and seafood
distributors/wholesalers who are trying to source seafood that is
environmentally preferable. The online database will give buyers in all levels

about sources that are ranked as environmentally preferable by various credible
environmental NGO’s as well as those that are certified as sustainable by the
Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). The guide will give detailed information

Additional
info (notes section)
Real time product
information will be gathered by direct and on-going contact with suppliers/producers
and updated through scheduled supplier/producer contact. The companies listed
will be from various levels on the supply chain depending on the product. Buyers
will be able to use the information for procurement or to assist their
distributor in procurement (distributors will have access to the database as
well).
Each product will
contain rankings and/or certifications from various partnering NGO’s. Each user
will login to the database as a partner/affiliate of one of the NGO’s with
rankings listed on the site. This user will see only the rankings of that
organization and the presence of MSC certification if applicable (NGO’s can opt
to not show MSC certification if desired and will have the option to default to
a second NGO for rankings if agreeable by both parties).
Products will be
stored in database format which will be searchable by product, color ranking,
company and location of harvest/catch. Fishchoice.com will include a message
board for buyers to discuss companies that they have worked with and products
they are searching for.
Fishchoice.com is a
non-profit conservation minded organization. Construction of web presence will
commence in November, 2007 with a beta test to begin in February 2008.
